Artist's Statement about this work: this painting is a commentary on the extinction of Honey Bees. I wanted to do a painting that reflected the beauty of bees and the intricacy of the hive, while foreshadowing the ominous nature of their extinction. I do not know the impact of their extinction; I can imagine that the worst case scenario would be our own demise, while the best case scenario would be no honey.

Artist's Statement about this work: There are times in the spring where your senses get mixed up and you can taste the air and smell the sunshine. It is when distant things still feel very far but you are somehow large enough to touch them if you wanted to. It is when you find your self grateful for every glisten of sunlight, bit of green, or cool shadow because there is something about the going-without-them during winter that makes them feel extra precious.

Artist's Statement about this work: At this really stressful time of quarantine, this has been a pleasure to work on. It's meditative in a way, to select each shape and charge the colors in. How freeing it is to work on small pieces at a time, not having to complete or comprehend the whole process at once. As the small pieces of color join together bit by bit, a story and feeling emerge on their own. What a gift color and painting are for soothing the soul and sharing beauty with those we love.

Artist's Statement about this work: The Pando Clone is the largest organism (by mass) on Earth. And it is dying. After perhaps 80,000 years, it took only about 200 years of (mis)managing it for "modern" man's usage to create a middle aged clone - no new sprouts were thriving. I went up to Fish Lake National Forest on a crisp fall afternoon. The glorious gold was gone but the majesty of the naked trees, all a part of a single living thing was equally inspiring. Artist's Statement about this work: My niece married at the Blueberry Inn in Goshen, VT. The flowers came from the Inn gardens and matched the color of the Inn. The bouquets were placed in tin containers. I wanted to capture the flowers and the dreaminess of the day.
